Siphiwe Hlophe

Born to a vocalist mother and raised in a musical family with strong church foundations, Siphiwe  “Shef” Hlophe would become the brightest star to ever shine. Popularly known as ‘Shef’, Siphiwe Hlophe has made a name for himself as the most sought after vocalist and performer locally and internationally.

From an early age Siphiwe Hlophe was always the centre of attraction as adults and his peers marvelled at his powerful vocal abilities. “In primary  school, my teachers would  call me into the staff room and ask me to sing for them, they would be left in tears, searching their pockets looking for money to give me. I knew from then that I’ll never go broke for as long as I have my voice.” -Shef

It would come as no surprise that soon after completing his tertiary education in Community development &Arts Siphiwe launched  his career as a full time musician.

He founded the most revered Afro Rock band and to ever emerge from the South of Johannesburg called Shef and the Kitchen music.

As the lead vocalist and performer Siphiwe Hlophe took Shef and the Kitchen music to great heights. The band became an unstoppable force as we know it today for their Electrifying performances both locally and internationally.

Fusing his educational background, passion for arts and performance Siphiwe Shef Hlophe has started an Organization that gives artists a platform to express their talent. The name of the Organization is known as “Shef Arts Foundation.

“ There is a lot of work that needs to be done in the Arts space, we need to preserve our culture through connecting artists to opportunities and providing the  necessary support where it is needed the most , and we need to achieve it through the Shef Arts Foundation.” -Siphiwe Shef Hlophe.
